If a child turns 18 years old, can the child support money be turned over to him/her?

And another question, can the money be given to the child in fractions, meaning, he/she receives a portion of the money (example: he/she would be able to receive 75% of the money from the child support)?

I suggest you contact your local child services and find out for sure. I've never heard of it, but I don't know everything! Good luck

What child support money? If the money was spent as it should have been it's all gone as it was used to house, feed and clothe the child over the past years it's not money put into an account for a child.

I got pregnant when I was 17 yrs old. I like your daughter went running to my mother crying and had her promise not to be mad at me or look at me differently. We sat down together and discussed all the possibilities. Adoption, Abortion, keeping the baby, etc. My mother told me that she would support any decision I made. Having the baby would mean that my High school days were over. NO more hanging with friends, no more parties, no more being a teen... My mother helped me to understand that "she" would not be the one to raise the baby that it would have to be me. And this would mean, Being home all the time, not being able to look into colleges or going out on the weekends, etc. After long talks with my mother and really understanding what I did and what will have to happen when and if I had this child , really scared me. My future was over! I ended up having an abortion. Not proud of it. But at the time I would have not made a good role model. plus the boyfriend at the time when he heard I was pregnant he ran away. My suggestion would be to support your daughter. I would express to her the cost of having a child and raising it. I would also express to her that she has her whole life ahead of her. That she should wait to have a child until she is financially stable with a good paying job and with a man that loves her. She is not ready for a baby, and being 14 yrs old knows nothing about how hard it is. I would try to steer her towards giving her child up or abortion. Good Luck

If you’re still responsible for child support and the child is over 18, then they must be in school. The child support money is due to the *custodial parent* not the child. You don’t have the option of paying the child instead of the parent.

child support usually stops once the child turns 18, as he/she is now a legal adult.
you can still continue to pay child support if you wish to, by means of college or education....but as far as child raising the money stops.
child support is there to provide , food, clothing, electricity, a place to live etc etc......so therefore that is why the money is collected by the mom..or carer because children cannot be expected to have this kind of responsibilty.
if you want to bank money into an account for your child then do so .....but it should not be classed as child support..............as child support is there for the child to be raised.

Most of the time, the moneys still goes to the home that the child resides in. If the child moves out on their own and does not live at the family home or get support from anyone at the home, then they can petition the court system to get the child support.

Is your child still in school living in the parents home?
Should be the only reason you are still paying support.
If your child is not living at home and not being supported fully by parents, you have no need for that any more. Know your rights, before you offer or sign anything.

If the child is 18, then he/she is no longer a child; at least not legally and you shouldn't have to pay child support any more.

If a child turns 18, why are you still required to be paying child support??! The 'child' is an adult. If you want to continue giving him or her money, do so, but it can't be required anymoe.

No. An 18 year old is considered an adult unless they are attending school. Even then, Mom gets the support.
