I have noticed that other LCD displays like those for laptops, PDAs, digital cameras, and touchscreen displays use a different kind of plastic covering than that of a desktop LCD display and they look better to. Why can't desktop LCD displays have the same coverings as others?

Plastic? Why the hell would they use plastic to manufacture screens? It's glass. Simply put, some LCDs use glossy screens and some just use regular ones.

ITS POSSIBLE THAT THE MANUFATUER IS MAKING THE MONITOR WITHOUT THE FIBERGLASS COVERING BUT IT COULD BE AN OLDER MONITOR TOO THEY TEND TO USE THEM FOR PCS BECAUSE OF THE DUST FACTOR AND THAT U DONT CARRY AROUND THE PC MONITOR SO IT DOESNT NEED THAT PROTECTIVE SHIELD ON IT.
