Yes, it is a patients right. You have the right to refuse anything. But you need to think of the benefits of the exam and the negative side as well.
I would suggest you allow the Dr to do it. It is for the best, but IT IS YOUR desicion. Don't let any NURSE tell you otherwise!

You can refuse any type of treatment. A pelvic exam helps evaluate the size and position of the vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It is an important part of preventive health care for all adult women. A pelvic exam is done to help detect certain cancers in their early stages, infections, sexually transmitted diseases which could effect your unborn baby, or other reproductive system problems. You may feel some pressure or mild discomfort when the speculum is inserted but try to relax as much as you can. I had a very high risk pregnancy due to an incompetant and dynamic cervix many of these during my pregnancy you never get use to it but I knew it was to make sure my child would be okay so I sucked it up by the time I delivered my OB had seen more of me then my husband..lol

I wouldn't recommend refusing it!! Doctors can tell a lot from a pelvic exam. Its one of those things you have to put up with when you become pregnant. You need to do whats best for your health and the health of your baby.

Yes you can, but they don't do the exam for no reason, as far as i know, they take swabs for stds, and probably check to make sure that your cervix is normal as well. Would you want to wait until something goes wrong with your pregnancy to find out that there's something wrong down there. You know what they say... "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

You are in control of your body and can always say no. Talk to your doctor about why the exam is necessary and explain your concerns.

You can refuse anything sence its your body but your doctor will push for you to have it done. Its just healthy to do what they ask. They dont enjoy poking around in you anymore then you do.

Why would you want to refuse this? They can detect abnormalities by giving you a pelvic exam possibly saving you and your baby.

Yes I think you can but you definantly should not refuse. Just remember, doctors are only doing it to better you and your babies health, you might be modest and a little shy but they see it everyday, its nothhing new to them. Do it for your baby!

You can say no. If you are not happy with your doctor get a second opinion.
