Tape your forearms and knees beneath your clothes. I play indoors on the nastiest turf in the world, and without full coverage, I end up with some terrible roadrash-looking messes.
Also, any scratches or cuts should be treated after the game with antibacterial salve. Those things can get infected from bacteria living in the turf.

The best way to cope with it, is to get out there and do it!
Have a friend go to the facility one day and "warm you up" to the idea of diving. Have him shoot on you. This is a very easy way of getting used to things, because it is someone you know and trust striking the ball.
Also, and take it from me, to prevent rug burns, wear goalie PANTS out there!

I played goalie myself on the same type of surface before, and your best bet is to just go for it. You just have to conquer your fear and try it, preferably during practice. After the first time if it feels ok, youll be set, if it hurts, ask the coach for some ideas. Good luck!

first grass wont hurt as much ..and plus you can by these shorts that guard your thighs and legs and itwont hurt as much , also diving is the last thing you should be afraid of . becasue well you might get stepped on and elbowed when going for corners , also ther are these keeper jerseys that come with pading , but youll be fine , indoor is harder than outdoors , and also when diving keep on your tippy toes , you get better reflexes ...lol

Be careful because my cousin was playing goalie indoor and he dove for a ball and broke his arm, but goalie wasn't his position
