I have two questions, the first question is Why did America side with the French and British in World War I? Second and final question. How did South Carolina and Mississippi overcome or how did they regain statehood status within the United States?

Thank you,

Well I know America allied with France and Britian because the Germans were sinking our ships with U-boats and the sent a message to Mexico asking them too ally against us later on in the war.

What brought us into WWI was the sinking of the Lusitania, which was a passenger vessel, this was the last straw and this forced the US hand to join, now with the return of statehood, I believe statehood was never revoked nor not given to any state, but they did withdraw from the union, as did Virginia.. Statehood is voted by congress so there would have to be a vote passed to get this revocation there for it would be logged, and you would be able to view this in the Library of Congress
