if the kitten is really young and new to the house its normal that they cry all the time. kittens come from litters and its their instinct as a baby to be with its brothers and sisters. even if she is not new to the home and is left alone for most of the time during the day and even just long periods of time, she is lonely. as long as you give her attention while you are there, its somehting she will grow out of.

Not all cats like to be handled but the problem can be lessened with patience and time. It's all a matter of trust.

If your kitten wants to be put down then let her go, the worst you could do is to force her to stay on you, this would only stress her more and have the reverse effect that you desire.

Begin by having her play on your lap with a toy of some sort until she begins to be out of wind and lay down to relax. Once she will lay down near or on you, pet her gently. Never use your hands or fingers as the toy and be consistent about it. Your hands should mean to your cat, only caresses and scratching which they love so much.

Using only objects to play with or "punish" your cat, will condition your kitten into associating your hands with pleasure, nothing else. In the long run your cat will feel secure in your hands and you'll be able to handle her pretty much the way you want.

4 years ago I adopted a young male of about 10-12 months of age. When I was picking him up he was all stressed out and grabbing my clothes like a baby monkey grabs his mother's fur, as if I would let him fall. He was obviously nervous being in my arms and his claws were hurting me alot. Well today, I can pick him up and lay him on my shoulder and he will let himself hang like a rag, totally relaxed and confident that I will not let him fall.
I can basically now hold him in any position I can think of.

Never forget that you must not force her to stay in your hands or on you. It will take time but she'll get over it. She must trust you and in order to do that she must know that she can return to the ground whenever she wants.

Maybe there is a difference between crying and talking that you aren't tuned into yet. If you doesn't resist you , she might just be saying hi.

Probably she's just talkative. Maybe she thinks you are Mommy, and she wants to know where the food is.
