Dude, your question is really hard to answer.
But here my opinion :
For me every metal genre in this world of music is really awesome, and very nice to listen, but the most incredible metal music is still the 80's metal music !!! Why ? Because during this time there are so many bands born and also they bring some new fresh metal music to the world. So the best guitarist in metal music are still in this era, and they are :
Yngwie Johann Malmsteen - the master for speed that mix some metal music element with a cool classical music.
Jason becker - the master for a speed and accuracy doing play the metal music.
Vinnie moore - also the one of the most cool guitarist, that built his career with some cool speed and accuracy
Steve vai - the genius guitarist that are so creative and his music is full of impovization.
Marty friedman - one master in guitar, with some rough and brutal during the play but still in a very awesome speed and accuracy
Joe satriani - a teacher for many guitarists nowaday, and i love his harmony in his music and in my view, he can do every kind of music, jazz, blues etc. A master.

Ok, heres the deal. Slayer is the best metal band ever. PERIOD. You however are looking for Strapping Young Lad. Devon shreds but the last SYL album(The New Black) sucks. Try Alien.
