if the movie flops the ratings may fall for the show, but we as loyal fans must ensure higher ratings than ever.
Why would they cancel a great show that makes billions for its sponsors......however mat may pass the torch to another artist producer.

There has been talk for some time to take the Simpsons to 20 years and call it quits, but that is just a rumor

Groening has made it quite clear that he isn't planning on stopping the simpsons any time soon. The movie is going to lead into a whole new season :)

I dont think thats true. After a motion picture the series will be even more popular (if possible). Maybe its Matt's last season working on the show...but the show will go on.

it could be true most movies mark the end of their series. but the simpsons have stuck it out for seventeen years so why stop now?
