Hi there I too had the same problem. Lots of people will tell you its bad for the baby blah blah but its hard I know. My smoke free pregnancy midwife told me there is a much greater chance of success if you use NRT and yes you can use them when pregnant. I used the 16 hour nicorette patches which I found really helpful. Of course I was worried about my baby but look at it this way. What's worse the 4000 different chemicals in a cigarette or the 1 chemical in a patch.
The strength is gradually decreased and I didn't even finish the course I just used them till I lost the urge to smoke. I am now 23 weeks pregnant do not smoke or use nicotine replacement, and am damn proud that i actually succeeded in quitting for my unborn child. With or without nicotine replacement at least you are trying people should notice that and give you that little extra help rather than criticise!

I have read many articles on the net about pregnancy, and am aware that docors reccomend that you go cold turkey with nicotine. Chewing ordinary gum to occupy you mouth and stimulate movement will help with the feeling of taking in nicotine. Try holding a pen in your hand to occupy your hands, you could even use the empty barrel of a pen and take it to your mouth so that you still feel that you taking something to your mouth.
What Im not overly sure about is that doctors say stop all nictoine, yet they say 1 or 2 glasses of wine a week whilst pregnant is safe? how or why is this?
Fortunately I dont smoke, and drink maybe only once or twice a year, normally at christmas and only have a few glasses of wine.

You have the right idea. You should stop smoking while your pregnant. The Best of course is to just stop all together for you and the baby. I would review with a doctor your ideas and let him guide you in the right directions. Here a couple links that basically say you can use nicotine replacement but they aren't 100% sure it is safe for the baby.

At the end of the day it is 9 months for you but a life time of health for your baby.

Nicotine replacement is just the same as smoking, no amount of nicotine is good for you or your developing baby. The best thing you could do, for yourself and your baby, would be to read the Alan Carr Stop smoking book.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can take for this safely whilst you are pregnant,
I ws on almost 20 a day when I found out that I was pregnant and I stopped more or less straight away.
Think of your baby when you smoke and keep thinking in your head that every time you have a cigarette your baby is absorbing it too.
It is not easy to give up and I gave up 10 weeks ago and still fancy one every now and then but thinking of my baby really helps.

NONE! they are worse then if you smoked two packs in a day with no filter.
Call you local hospital they have free smoke free clinics.
Some tips. Tar Bar ..they go on the tip of your cig and help filter. They are clear then turn black real fast with the tar and toxins and if you are like me with a weak stomach it will help to look at it after each cig.
Smoke outside only, till you have stopped.
Ice chips, have a cup next to you at all times. I get them all the time from the gas station because they taste better then when I make them...or it is because im to lazy lol
Take your finger tip and place a little white vinagar on the filter before you smoke. It realy taste nasty.
Good luck and check out the free clinics

NO they put too much nicotine in your system at 1 time, they are very dangerous. Ask your OB for other options, they will be more than willing to help
