My car has been leaking bits of tranny fluid but nothing major. The car is a 1994 sedan deville 4 door.I went up a big hill last night then on the way home;My check engine light came on.I pulled over to get gas and that's when I noticed small smoke coming from down by my transmission.I got up to go to work this morning and my car backed up just fine but then would not go into drive.i turned the car off then tried again and the car pulled off slow and the engine had alot of peep to it but would not go past 35 and the car began to jake as if it attempted to take of fast but would not.I put fluid in it asap then went to work and the car kept jumping out of gear.I drove 20 miles and the smoke appeared again from under my car.I can now smell a burning smell coming from the tranny fluid. My car did not give any warning prior to this. Why? Now the car will only move by me turning the car on and off.I have only had this car for two months and I brought it at a used car lot as is.

The fluid is leaking onto the exhaust and that's causing smoke. The trans won't go if it starts sucking air instead of fluid.

If it popped the front main seal out, then you probably need to rebuild the front pump assembly and replace the torque converter.

If it's just the oil pan gasket, change the fluid and filter along with a new gasket. See if that does it. If not, then you'll need a transmission rebuild.

If an output shaft seal is leaking, then take out the output shaft and replace the seal. Might as well do the fluid and filter change while you're at it.

Sounds like you need a new transmission.

Are the following things occurring?

1. When you shift into a gear, it takes a while for the gear to actually kick in

2. When you start from a stop (like at a red light) the car takes a bit before it starts moving?

3. When you're driving, the engine revs before kicking into the next gear

If so, get your car to a reputable transmission shop. The worse the transmission gets, the more severe these symptoms will become. The sooner you get it looked at, the less it will cost you.

I'm not sure what state you reside in however some states have a "lemon law" that protects used car buyers. You may have gone over the time limit but you should check it out anyway. Additionally, try to take the car back to where you bought it and see if they will fix it. It's worth a try.
Good luck to you.

Did you keep the former fluid? what percentage quarts of fluid did you drain from the transmission? Are you effective you position that type of Ford licensed transmission fluid decrease back contained in the transmission? what percentage new empty quart packing containers are you able to count number? i'm wondering that you won't be able to verify for ideal dipstick aspect (once you've a dipstick) till the transmission is warm and the engine is idling.
