OK, for all those who graduated from high school or college, I'm guessing it was a fairly big event and you had family AND friends, and possibly even a significant other, right?

I have no girlfriend and no close friends. I feel really weird that the only two people who expressed a wish to attend my convocation were my mom and dad. Jesus I would look like such a loser. I decided that if I don't get a g/f, or at least some female friends, I will not attend my graduation (won't affect my academic career) and/or stop my parents from attending.

What do you think?

Oh sweetheart, you've touched my heart. Don't take it so seriously. The graduation is such a big event and have so many people there, who would have time to notice that you're only there with your parents. Don't you have cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc.? If they are not able to attend, you need to join some kind of group, whether it is sporting, church, some kind of club or something, and make some kind of friends if it means so much to you. And please attend. It is not fair for your parents to put you through school for all those years and when it's time to reap the benefits of the diploma, you don't want them to attend? And by the way, you will regret it too. Especially when you have kids and you don't have any pics to show, stories to tell, or any traditions to continue. Go and enjoy it with your parents. You can also tell them how you feel and maybe they'll try extra hard to get some of your extended family there. Good Luck
