No, you are able to buy it over the counter from any pharmacist. It is especially effective if you take it with Tylenol. Just ask the pharmacist for Brufen and he will be able to direct you. The generic name is cheaper then brand names such and Nurofen by about $2-5 depending where you shop.

you can purchase in any local drug store and sometimes buy they store brand and get it cheep. you can also get it as most convient stores for a much higher price.
