You know if you wear mascara you probably dont need eyeliner on the top and the bottom, but try going only where eyelashes are with a thin line to make them look fuller. Good luck!

When I was in 8th grade, I wore it all wrong. The real commonly taught way is to close the eye you are going to work on first, and draw a line right on your lashes. If the line gets really thick and all over ur eyelid, get a q-tip an smudge it so u look like u have a smokey grey eyeshadow. Just make sure u dont leave ur skin showing under the eyeliner, cuz that looks really cheap and I see a lot of jr high and high school girls do it that way.

Eyeliner is a basic part of eye make-up application. When you apply eyeliner, you shape and define your eyes, while making your eyelashes look thicker. Though eyeliner is completely optional, it can help to complete your look by complimenting eye shadow and mascara application. However, if applied incorrectly, eyeliner can give you a garish appearance. Below are some general tips that will help you to apply eyeliner like a pro.

Types of Eyeliner

As with any type of make-up, eyeliner presents a whole collection of colors to choose from. Though colors can range from red and silver to green and gold, the most common and conservative choices are brown and black. These two hues can match almost any skin tone and look good with almost any shade of make-up. In addition to colors, there are many different types of eyeliner products to choose from. Your choice should be based solely on your personal preferences. Here are some of the most common types of eyeliner:

· Eye pencils

· Liquid liners

· Gel eyeliners

· Cake eyeliners

· Powder Eyeliners

Application Techniques

To properly apply eyeliner, you will need a steady hand. If necessary, you can steady your arm by resting your elbow against a table or countertop. Once you are comfortable, begin by positioning the pencil, brush, or applicator close to the lash-line along the top of your eyelid. Then, using one smooth stroke, draw a line from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner. Be sure to follow the curvature of your eye and keep the line as thin as possible. You can always go back and make the line thicker later on. Once your top lid has been finished, you can begin on the bottom lid. To avoid the raccoon look, outline only the outer two-thirds of your bottom lid. You will also want to make sure that the top and bottom lines meet at the back corner. As a general rule, the color and/or the line should be less intense on the bottom.

Common Mistakes

Eyeliner application takes a fair amount of practice. Until you become adept at the concept, you will probably make a few mistakes. This is fine, but if you want a flawless appearance, you should do your best to avoid them. If you need some pointers, the list below offers easy eyeliner mistakes to avoid:

· Never apply eyeliner to the inside rim of the lid.

· Do not use greasy pencils. They smudge easily.

· If your eyes are small, do not apply thick eyeliner.

· Avoid over blending eyeliner on lower lids. It may give the appearance of dark circles.

Eyeliner is definately tricky to put on. Rule number one is to make sure your eyeliner pencil is sharp and defined. Follow the outside edge of your eye along the lid - i find that instead of drawing one long line, i make a "dotted line" as i go, smudging into my lashline when im finished. If you don't want to use an eyeliner pencil, and if you have darker lashes anyway, use a small brush, wet it under water and dip it into black eyeshadow. Gently smudge a small line with the brush. This gives a softer look than a line. Be careful tho - don't get to smudgy. Good Luck!

just kind of mash a tinsy little bit into the base your lash line and go over it with a damp brush - that should work

apply it as close as you can to your lash line, but don't put too much pressure or you will look trashy. just practice and if you mess up just use a baby wipe. :)
