Yes I can, but I have been doing it a long time. If the v formation is proportional you can count one side and double the number.

You can count a quick 20 or so and guess the total number from that.

Do you know why one side of the vee of geese is longer than the other?
--- more geese on that side!!!

Its odd but they fly exactly 2' 71/2" apart. take the overall distance and divide it by that and you have the number of geese in that wing.
