My husband, most of our friends, and I play EverQuest II. A couple of my friends play World Of Warcraft. Which game do you think is better, & why?

The people who would be truly qualified to answer this question are either WOW or EQ players. This means that there will never be a qualified answer to this question, as they are too busy playing their respective games.

=)

I'm a veteran of EQ I and have been playing EQ II for a year, and I absolutely love it. I gave WoW a try a few months ago for a couple of weeks, and I have to say I was seriously disappointed. I honestly don't understand how people who have played both games can choose WoW over EQ II.

I didn't like the user interface, I found the world difficult to navigate, and there was very little new player help. The races and classes didn't engage me, and I thought the customization abilities far inferior to EQ II's. The design of the game is standard, average---one of the things about EQ II is the fact that I'm continually amazed at the beauty of the surroundings and the complexity of the details and designs in all the different zones.

There's also the fact that I found EQ II players to be older and more mature---there's a certain level of dedication required if you're going to completely immerse yourself in the game that I found lacking in WoW. Not just dedication to leveling, mind you, but to the game experience as a whole.

Finally, I just find the actual gameplay of EQ II much more enjoyable and better than the setup for WoW. The battle/spells/combat are much clearer---I found them befuddling at best in WoW. Finding things, people and places in WoW was also much less clear than it is in EQ II.

In EQ II, when you create a character, the walkthrough is extremely thorough---you have a pretty good overall idea of your race and class and how to play them by the time you leave the tutorial. And when you arrive at your home city, you're given even more information and tasks. It's all very linear and clear, until you're ready to strike out on your own and explore. In WoW, I just felt plunked down in the middle of newbie land and forced to fend for yourself. Then it was just mindless grinding to get new weird spells that didn't really seem to add to my sense of a character as a whole.

Anyway, I realise this is just my opinion, but I have given both a try and as far as I'm concerned, EQ II is the clear winner.

i'm a two-year wow veteran and recently tried playing eq2 - i have to say i didn't think eq held a candle to wow. in my eyes, wow is by far superior in its graphics, overall game look and its game play style. but its just my personal opinion.

you should try out wow through the 10-day trial they offer, give it a shot and see what you think! i can't help but wonder if it just ends up that people prefer the game they started with... anyway good luck and i hope you try it out, it is a very neat game!

here's a link to the free trial: https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/index.htm
heep in mind though you're a little limited as to what you can do with the trial - i.e. - not using the auction house (or mail system i think).

I like WOW because my friend play it. It's always fun to be able to play with your friends and then you can just chat to them and play and be cool. WOOO!
