Ant. for mellow: unripe, immature, harden, make callous; Ant. for renounce, assert, proclaim, uphold, keep, hold, accept, approve, acknowledge.

Mellow is to calm down, so that would be excite, or something similar. (excited, if you're using the adjective form)

Renounce is to give something up (usually a belief), so the opposite would be to accept. Hope that helps! :)

Mellow - Laid Back

Smooth > Coarse / Harsh / Rough / etc.
Laid Back > Uptight / Anal Retentive / Hyper-Active / etc.

Renounce - Deny / Refute / etc

... > Accept / Aver / Admit / etc

If you have MS Word, you can perform a word look-up using either F7 or F7. One will trigger a spell-check, and the other pulls-up a thesaurus function. It also lists antonyms.

"mellow" has a number of meanings
For the meaning "mature" - opposite is "fresh"
For the meaning "abate" - opposites are "increase" and "intensify"
For the meaning "amiable" - opposites are "antisocial" and "disagreeable"

"renounce" meaning "desert" - opposites are "keep" and "claim"
Meaning "abdicate" - an opposite is "usurp"
Meaning "abstain" - an opposite is "partake"
