Nope. Eastern Dragon has much richer folklore to it. There are susposedly 4 dragons of the sea...North, South, East & West (As told in the Monkey Kings Journey to the West)...and 4 Dragons that control the elements (Wind, snow, Fire and rain) as in N'Jai....

Chinese Dragons are a symbol of prosperity & Wealth and this applies to people born under the Dragon sign...

No they are not the same creatures, but if they exsists, they're bound to be classified under the same species.
Eastern dragons are more serpent like, as compared to the lizard like western counterparts.
Both lizards and snakes are still considered reptiles.

They should be regarded as seperate mythological entities. They developed seperately, and have different traits. TO overly compare them is just confusing. To my humble knowledge in the West a dragon was an evil reptile of enormous size, sometimes controlled by Satan, but usually on a rampage. In the orient, they were spirits.

I don't think so as eastern dragons don't appear to have wings. Western dragons are also more difficult to tame, but if it is tamed, it can be your best ally.

Siberian tigers, African lions, mountain lions, jaguars, and bobcats are all different too, but we still call them big cats. The many worldly variations of dragons may look different and have different descriptions and stories, but they are still members of the far-reaching family of draconium.
