Lasik vision correction surgery works well for many people. Some of the criteria for successful Lasik surgery are as follows:

Your prescription is within the guidelines (preferably distance only, little or no astigmatism)

Your eyes do not have any of the criteria that may disqualify them (thin corneas, large pupils, extreme dryness, a history of keloid scarring, scarring from past infections or trauma, or a history of retinal detachment, etc.)

Your prescription is stable

You have not been pregnant, or do not intend to become pregnant, months before or after the procedure

Your Lasik is being performed by an experienced, reputable doctor, and you follow the pre- and post- operative care accordingly.

Lasik lasts indefinitely. Some people may have a slight shift in time, and require a "touch-up".

Lasik will not prevent someone from needing reading glasses as they age. That is caused by a lack of muscle accommodation.

I hope this helps! :)

It did wonders for me. I had very poor vision and lasik corrected mys sight so I don't have to wear glasses. Problems I have had however include 1. dry eyes. 2. They corrected one eye to be for reading and the other for distance - takes time to get used to. and 3. At the time they couldn't correct for astigmatism so I still have problems sometimes with rooms with different lighting (fluorescent vs incandescent). One more comment. When they say it doesn't hurt... this is not necessarily true. The actual lasik wasn't bad just scary. However afterward my eyes ached so bad that I thought "what did I do" I finally got past it and was ok. You should ask to take Motrin before going in for the surgery. Also you should ask about "regression" This is where they over correct then have you wear hard contacts until the sight corrects to where it should be. My one eye didn't regress as much as the other and so it is not totally corrected. They say as I get older that my sight in that eye may improve. Good luck.

My mom had the surgery and it worked, but she still has to use glasses. She did however see a big improvement. Be careful of who you go to though, I see alot of "discount" surgeons with ads on t.v.
