Peace is not some utopia where everyone thinks the same. That would be boring and we would all cease to exist, we could not thrive in such hideous unchallenging conditions. Peace is embracing and living with our differences that challenge us...embracing the thoughts, beliefs, and conditions that make us each unique and different and being understanding of them. When Peace rides into battle, (Peace in Battle? Boy, that sounds ironic) the starving children of the world, the injustices of mankind's indifferences, the homelessness that walks alone, the child abuse that shames us, the killings that are never justified, the wars over loss of humanity, and all hideous creations of man's misguided ways become less in the face of Peace and soon dwindle into oblivion. As Peace grows, the world remains a challenging, exciting, adventurous place, that offers a utopia of differences to make us breath and live to our fullest. That is what Peace is - living to the fullest on our journey on Earth.

This is not about my answer - it is what is Peace to You? (e.g. what does it mean to you? What effects does it have on your life, your loved ones? etc...

Peace is knowing my kids are okay. Peace is a hot bath with candles all around. Peace is reading a good book in bed.

I'm a bit soured on the conventional notion of peace, which resembles nothing so much as death. This seems like the point you're getting at above. But I think the notion you're looking for isn't peace as much as justice and goodness. Peace and violence have become the "good" and "evil" of late modern conventional ethics, but these terms seem to bend over backwards to avoid the judgmentalness of the traditional terms. But innovation is a form of violence on the status quo, and peace is basically the absence of struggle, and the most perfect absence of that sort is, as mentioned above, death. Peace is overrated as a good, and violence as an evil, especially since the latter has been expanded to include relatively trivial offenses.
Remember that "Utopia" means, literally, "nowhere". Lately it seems to me that we've got a growing discrepancy between our increasingly utopian expectations, and the increasing refusal of much of the world to buy into them, and I wonder if the former doesn't in some ways contribute to the latter. When non-violence goes so far as to involve the banning of games of tag in grade school, it makes the value of non-violence debatable. And late 20th century dogmatic pacifism at all costs seems to be more of an intellectual fetish or a neurosis than a real goal. I think justice is better: a world in which people get out of the system what they put in (with some slack for leniency and forgiveness), and in which there's some equality in the amount of moral indulgence that individuals are allowed to require of others.

Peace is flexibility in adapting to change. It isn't about having your 100% knowledge or believe in being "right". It is knowing that there will always be things you don't know and things left to experience. It is learning about others ways and experimenting with your own. Peace to me is not a utopia, it is a transition of living your life full of trying to stop change and going to embrace it for what it is, the thing that brings depth to your life. Every hard instance or obstacle in your life is peace just as much as the good occurences, because they even you out and bring you to heel understanding each other better.

peace to me...will come when people realzie the following:
your first allegiance is to your family
Your second one is to your community or friends
Third is to your culture or ideology
Fourth is to your nation or of peoples
Fifth, however, is your allegiance to your race...
I think we will find...as history might yet fortell, that if we were to meet an aggressor alien race...all these unecessarily bickering of things in the middle east would ceaze to exist.
Its all about alliances and bonds...
...you, feel and see and can understand the way I am...you have the same neural prescepts I have...we can connect, understand together...form a bond together as friends...because we are....human....brotha. We even look the same...we have two eyes, a nose and a mouth.
Bonds, are what its all about...its what is needed for peace..its what forged nations....you form a bond with your buddies of war, and that is why you die for them....
The strongest bond is argueably the oen whithin the family or friends...then comes ideology, although interchangable...then comes ideas about citizenship, nationhood...because you all have a common language, ideology, etc...
its really about 'commonness' that brings us together.
And last, the strongest bond of all, but the most neglected...is the fact, that we are all human...I am sure, that if 5 alien races were to start making alliances...our first alliance would be to the interests of our race...we would not 'sell' humans to them for slave abour would we? we would protect our kind..
These allegiance to our race...is what is missing...we have never felt it because we have never had to...but when we realize our humanness in all other humans...that they also have friends and family and a place to go back to...that they also have feelings...when you empathize..
that is when you realize that peace is not so far-fetched...this doesn't meant we won't still have our arguements, disagreements, and domination games...we will fight for our interests and our pride...resources, etc...But in the end, we are one race...and this is what should unite us in the end.

Peace is knowing exactly how the Earth is formed (its birth) and why life is on the Earth. I have absolute peace, because I know why.
Yet, I still must deal with day to day hardships, which makes it hard to stay focused on the bigger picture, ( purpose). Peace for me -is knowing we are not alone in the Universe and we have older brothers and sisters waiting for us to grow up. I understand why our brothers and sisters in far away places have kept there distance and this gives me peace. My children will never be lost to me, it makes no sense that they would. There are no delusions ; existence is ..... well.. thats for you to figure out. I am poor as far as money goes; however, I am wealthy in understanding. Yes I am at peace. Hope you find lasting peace too.

My personal peace allows me to look at life's adversity with calmness and assurance. Nothing stays stagnant and with the possibility of change, hope comes alive. Peace is a relationship word: relationship with my God, myself, my fellowman and with life in general (past, present and future). It is the core of stability that under-girds me when life shifts too fast or pain comes unexpectedly. Because my peace is based in my relationship with God and not defined by my circumstances, I can depend on it to not leave me when the worst happens. It is precious and I'm not willing to lose it to anything or for anyone.

Peace is when no man raises a hand in anger to another man because he is of a different race and belief. Peace is when a child knows no hunger, pain or fear because of man.

Peace to me connotes something like this:
sleeping soundly at the end of the day knowing i made it through
i open my eyes in the morning the purity of the snow-covered soothes my appetite for a thing for beauty knowing i understood its essence and appreciated it
i look at the icicle-covered trees and tall prairie weed
so tranquil the left-out water didn't turn ice in that creek
trying to flow its way to only God knows where
for a moment of my life, i am glad i am alive!
