i guess they're in Iraq...and they'll eat your skin...and some of our troops over there will come back without lips and such because these spiders eat your skin and when they bite you, they inject you with something that makes you not be able to feel it....so yah...i was just wondering if that was true...

The camel spider stories began to spread during the 1990-91 Gulf War. Now, with the continued presence of U.S. forces in the Middle East, the stories are becoming legendary. ..Most of the stories on the internet are completely untrue. These creatures are (usually) not dangerous to humans. But, dangerous or not, these creatures are horrifying to encounter. I pity anyone who encounters one for the first time.

false, camel spiders have no toxins at all. they rely entirely on brute force and speed to subjugate their prey. while they are one of the most voracious of all arachnid species (they're more related to the scorpion than the spider), they don't just run around eating people. they may bite a person if they feel threatened, and it is a nasty bite, but normally only as a defense mechanism in an effort to keep itself alive, just like any other animal. also, they aren't as big as they appear in pictures; they usually only grow to 3"-6" long.

they are also in afghanistan. i saw one when i was there. they have a poison that makes that part of the body go numb so their prey dont feel it when they are getting eaten. they are called camel spiders because they jump up on to the belly of a camel and inject their poison and then just eat away until the camels insides fall out.
