New Orleans was abandoned by Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco. They were the elected officials who failed to order an evacuation until 12 hours before Katrina made landfall knowing they had no conceivable way to evacuate the 10% of the population that didn't drive. It was also Blanco who didn't activate the LA National Guard until after the levees breeched, 2 days after the hurricane.

Nagin and Blanco are 100% to blame for evey death that occurred in New Orleans and the surrounding parishes. But instead of indicting Nagin on 1500 counts of negligent homocide he was reelected... the people of NO deserve him as mayor.

(Mississippi suffered fewer deaths because they activated the guard and had mandatory evacuations 50 hours before Katrina hit.)

What happened in New Orleans is a tragedy. And we should definitely be working on it.

But if you think it's the saddest place on Earth then you're sorely mistaken.

Read about other countries. Specifically the ones in Africa.

Because New Orleans was the fault of the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana both of whom are democrats. They had ample time to get their own people out and they didn't

I was wondering the same thing, especially since this was one of his better speeches. Apparently he doesn't care about the victims because they're poor.

Because the Mayor of said city and Governor of Louisiana (both of whom are Democrats, btw) are as much to blame as he is.

He knows that, so why pin the blame squarely on himself?

MOST CORRUPT CITY IN THE NATION

The people don't even care about themselves.

What's sad is the irony of your question: You call the President an idiot but misspell it.
