I believe it was contrasting the treatment of Blacks in the North from their treatment in the South. For example, only in the South were the Blacks made to sit at the back of the bus, couldn't eat with whites, couldn't go to the same bathroom, couldn't go to school with whites, couldn't vote, etc. forever. The North wasn't perfect, but it wasn't openly segregated like the South. The gov'ts of the Southern states all strongly supported segregation and its evils. The early civil rights movement were in states in which discrimination against Blacks was not supported by the state as a policy. In other words, the movement was focused on states that already had basic rights recognized by the gov'ts. The Civil Rights movement did not focus on where the need was the greatest---but ONLY in its earlier days.

that is a good question...

Imagine yourself living in this country and seeing black people live the high life and you found out in the American Constitution that you could get the same good life, for you and your family.

When you go to get a job you are told you cant work here because we dont hire white people... so you go to another state and get the same answer.. you might even get called a few bad names...

then you go to the Governor, and demand that you have the same rights to pursue your dreams that black people have... all you want is a chance, not trouble... but that black Governor looks you dead in your eye and says, "get out of my face you piece of crap... you don't have rights here!"

You know that the promise of this great country is to inherit life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but you get denied just because you are white....

that is what i think she meant...

when black people had had it up to here they stood up! That is all. It did not take bombs, even though their churches, with children in them, were bombed.... they just stood up straight...

There is more that you will see the black people do in the country and in this earth....

Jesse Jackson said it best, "no lie can live forever!"
