I played basketball at school today and the ball hit me striaght on my pniky finger and jammed it. I went to the nurse and gave me a brace. I am a left handed shooter . The nurse said nothing about playing any sports with it. After that i didn't want to play any sport with a ball. This happened today at 8:30 AM Central Time. I really want to continue playing basketball but the jammed finger might get worse, or i can't play well. I don't know what to do . Please help me!!! And how do I heal a jammed finger more quickly.

Don't worry a jammed finger is not that big of a deal. I have played basketball for 10 years and have had my fair share of those. Don't use a brace, use tape it works much better. Take a roll of athletic tape and tear off a strip. Then tear or cut the strip in half length ways. Wrap your pinkie finger to the next finger over put one strip around the top and the other around the bottom taping them together provides support for the injured one. It will help, but try not to over use it.

Okay, I jammed my finger a million times because I'm a poor ball player, but half the time i didn't even have a brace and STILL played basketball. You can still play, but I dont recommend it. You might hit it again and it'll make the healing process a lot more painful and take more time. but if you want to, go for it, I just took it like a man, bit my lower lip and continued to be a dork with the ball and now, My fingers a 100% A Okay!

You can still play with a jammed finger. You may want to tape your jammed finger with the next and play that way. A brace may be to difficult to play with. I have had the same problem a few times and I always taped two fingers together and it didn't really give me a problem. The fact that it was your opposite hand is a pluss as well.

I think you'll know if you can or can't play ball with that finger as soon as you try it.
