I mean, aren't I supposed to feel happy about fun times I had in the past? It just makes me sad and depressed when I think about things I did, like a predominant thought that sticks with me is when I went on a trip with my girlfriend to the top of a mountain. It was barely in the fall of 05', yet I look back at that and feel bad inside. Why don't i feel joy when I think of that? I'm still with my girlfriend and happy with her, so its not that she dumped me or anything. i don't know whats going on with me. Oh and I'm 21 if that helps too.

There is no reason to feel bad about the past, whether it be bad or good. Think only about what you have learned from the past, and try to make the best of your future.

You know what, I am the exact same way. When I think of happy times, I feel really bad that they're gone. I used to get really sad when I was a teenager at the end of the school-year, because I always thought back to the previous summer and missed it so much. And then I'd end up having another summer just as great, and getting sad about THAT the next year. Now I capture all lifes ups and downs in a journal. It's a way for me to keep all my memories forever.

Well now, that is an odd symptom. It sounds like depression yet what is depression, anyway? A depressive feels no joy when given good news such as winning the lottery. To qualify as a depressive, your sadness would need to be pervasive in more areas than simple memories of the past. Maybe someone else can give you a better answer...

It could just be because you are getting older. I have found myself doing that a lot recently.
