Try running a heavy stream of water over it to wash away the rotted roots. Change the water every week and add just the slightest amount of very, very diluted plant food. Keep it close to the window so it gets lots of indirect light. If this doesn't help, cut it off just below a node and try rooting it anew. Good luck!

I wish I had better news, but usually when they start to yellow, that's the end of them:( If you have any stalks left that still look healthy, get them out, and rinse out your pot/bowl & just put them back in plain water, and throw the others away. You may have put in too much food and it burnt it. Mine have also yellowed from too much sun...any sun actually;) I have mine in a bathroom with NO natural light, and it has thrived in there. I've tried to save others before..cutting them back and putting the stalks in water, but they always just rot, and when bamboo rots, there isn't anything that smells worse.yeck! Sorry for the bad news~Maybe someone else will have a different idea:)
Good Luck!

you are able to Roundup what sprouts on your backyard, yet bamboo is between the toughest vegetation interior the international. The techniques of removing it does no longer artwork, if the bamboo has a house base on your neighbor's backyard. it is going to easily save coming back. The bamboo in our backyard in Hawaii died, yet that replaced into by way of fact the excellent backyard replaced into denied water for a 365 days. It replaced into variety of a wasteland section, so reverted to bare dirt.

You can try changing the water completely (try rainwater or distilled water if you can get it). If the roots have decomposed until they smell bad, then cut the bottom off, and try to root it again. No promises, but it's at least worth a shot.

If it not to late for your bamboo get lawn food onto it. Bamboo belongs to the grass family so lawn food (Super Phosphate) is what it needs. Do it as soon as possible.
If you know the name of your bamboo, let us know. I will look it up in my bamboo book and get back to you on what it says.

Never feed a bamboo plant. You can't kill them with a hammer but you will kill them with kindness.
It sounds like its to late but withhold water until it is very dry & then water sparingly.
