That's an interesting question. At first glance, no, but if you ever have an abdominal ultrasound, the use the transducer around almost to you spine on both sides.
Really, though, the answer is no.

I don't believe so-I think that the abdomen just refers to the front side of the body.
The back and abdomen are both part of the torso, though.

I don't understand the question...you have kidneys posteriorly, is that what you're talking about?
- I mis-read the question...I thought it said "what is the back part of the abdomen"...but anyway the answer is no.
