I believe that you would be helping the world by following your dream. It is like the domino effect. When you follow your dream, you are focused on the end picture, and in turn, turn down aspects (example... drugs, alcohol, dropping out of school, etc) that could have a negative influence on your life. Also, when you follow your dream, every time you get a little bit closer, and you get that surge of happiness, you would be smiling.. and when you smile the world smiles with you. When people are successful, other people want to be successful. It gives them the hope to follow their own dreams and aspirations. And the best thing is that no one has the same dream. Sure a lot of people dream of being famous singers, and maybe there would be a lot of singers if everyone passionately followed their dream, but music is a great way for people to show the emotions they can't in any other way. So yes, people can change the world by following their dreams...
And remember...
To the world you are a somebody, but to somebody you are the world...
Even if you make a change in just one person's life by following your dream...it's still one person, and they will help one person and so forth...

I don't know for sure it can help the world or not but i think it can help in somewa y! for example, your dream is becoming a very famouse and good at doing something then it encourage you to work on it harder and harder so when it coming true you have accomplished something for yourself you might be able to invent new thing for the world, it meant the world have something new that coming out from your dream! Sure if you have any dream just keep working on it don't stay back ( but make sure that your d ream is a good dream not kind of bad dream).

as long as everyone's dreams are different, you know many people want to be famous or singers, can't make everyone happy in that case :)
