why do many pretty ppl work at hollister?i saw a cute guy that looked like the surfer type in their working.he was so cute.but why do alot of pretty ppl work there?

I work at Hollister in Florida. They look for people with the "hollister image". If you notice, you never see any Hollister advertisement in magazines, on tv, or anywhere else because the company feels that the store is their advertisement, and the people who work there should be good looking in order to advertise the brand. The actual job title of the people who work in the actual sale floor (not the back) are called "models" (recently changed from the name brand reps). and yes they basically hire for looks. When I interviewed there it was group interview (like 8 people) and we just went around the circle telling about ourselves and answering some pointless questions... it was not at all like a typical job interview... and it really didnt matter what you said as long as you had "the look" you were hired. (one girl was like "ummm... come back to me" on every question, she was very attractive though). so it makes sense if you notice that "alot of pretty ppl work ther"....

They don't say it, but being good looking is a requirement for working there. There aren't any overweight people because they can't fit into hollister clothes and to work there you can only wear hollister clothes.

Well, their whole theme is like a surfer girl and guy thing so the theme location is a beach. And to sell their clothes, they use pretty people and also on their application, they say that umm well, you can't be overweight, ugly, or anything. You have to be pretty and skinny and have model like features.

It's a requeirent I here. i mean they aren't gonna turn down the work Needed sign when an ugly person walks by and stops to look at it. :) Pretty people look moedl-esque and they wear the clothes. Shwos you how good they look in it. Like walking/working mannequins! It's a good idea actually.

Yea I work for Abercrombie during the summer and Hollister while im in school (closer to my school, AF is closer to home) and we are asked to tell someone that looks like they have the "look" we require to apply. As the gentleman said above me we are walking advertisements. we wear the clothes to advertise them, they dont REQUIRE but they strongly recommend and give us awesome discounts.

my sister told me they went up to "pretty" people to ask if they need a job: so i guess that's why- im assuming that's a truth though :D also, they probably aren't going to reject someone good-looking when all they have to do is greet people at the door!!

Its the image they are trying to project. You wouldn't shop there if the workers were old, overweight and wrinkled.

No one is going to be persuaded to buy a pair of jeans from a fat ugly chick. ...look at any clothing store.
What you should be asking is why the hell are you wasting your money in holister? Do you really want to look like the rest of america?....fashion disaster. BUt if you want to slap on a pair of boring jeans and a cheap overpriced hoody that has some garbage on it like....Califoria 89, be my guest. Just don't be suprised if your treated like leming of corporate america. Think for yourself for christ sakes. Whats the sound a sheep makes?
