Hey everyone! I'm deciding between two names for my baby daughter. I really liked Kamea at the beginning of my pregnancy. It's Hawaiian and it means "my one and only". It's pronounced "Kah-may-ah", and I'm sure that for her whole life, people would pronounce it "Kah-mee-ah", which I do not want - that's the downfall with that name. The other name is Aurora. It means "goddess of the dawn". It's Walt Disney's "Sleeping Beauty's" first name in the movie, and when I was a child, my Mom would call me Princess Aurora sometimes, which I always thought was special. I also think that Rory would be a very cute nickname for that name. I love both! What do y'all think? Thanks so much for your help!

Maybe you can play w/ the spelling so as to make sure it's pronounced correctly!
Aurora doesn't flow naturally!

I like the Kamea and the way it sounds but the meaning-what if you have another child? Other than that, the name is lovely. I don't really like Aurora but the history of your mom calling you "Princess Aurora" is pretty clever and also the way your going to give her the nickname Rory. But if I have to choose only one, I would choose: Kamea.

I like Kamea. It's really unique. I wouldn't worry about people mis-pronouncing it that much. After all, people often introduce themselves when they are face to face with others. Most names can be mis-pronounced when read on paper, but once someone hears it for the first time, I'm sure they won't forget it.
Although I like the nickname Rory, I'm not crazy about Aurora. It's a little flowery for my taste. And it might be more difficult for a little girl to grow up with the name of a Disney princess than it would be for her to correct the occasional mis-pronunciation.

Both names are so beautiful! I love hawaiian names...Kamea is gorgeous. But I LOVE the name Aurora and want to use it if I ever have another daughter (I was thinking of using the nickname Ari or Auri for her).
That's tough. Maybe Kamea Aurora?? That sounds nice together!

I like both names. The good thing about new names is that you can recreate them as you wish. Maybe you could change the spelling from 'Kamea' to 'Kamayia' so there's no confusion with the pronunciation...but the sound still reflects the original meaning. Then make her second name Aurora.... Kamayia Aurora.... sounds lovely.... or combine all three names with 'Kamayia Rory' or just two names combined to make 'Kamae Aurora' or 'Kamayia Rora'. .... btw... congratulations!

I really like the first name and to cut down on the wrong prounounciation, call her May, or Mae and people would get it then when saying her whole name. Yeah, Rory is a cute name for Aurora but I have too many connotations of stars and cities when it comes to Aurora. I have a friend with that name, but its just too much name for a person to me. You know? Sorry.

I really like Rory - that is the cutest nickname. I would go with Aurora. Kamea is nice, but you will definitely run into problems with people wondering how to say it - unless you just call her Kami all the time.

I though it was Kah-mee-ah too when i first read it, but I LOVE Ka-ma-yah, Its adorable and different. Beautiful name, maybe consider spelling it as it sounds? Kamaia? Kamaya i really love the name. Aurora is cute too as is Rory but im in love with kamea!
