i get where your coming from, considering many 2gb nano owners i know (including myself) have a total much below 500 songs
a friend of mine had originally 460 songs on her nano when it became full, yet a few weeks later after deleting sum songs off it n putten on sum newies, her total dropped to 430. even if sum songs we're slightly larger, this drop is massive

if i could turn bak time, i def would have put sum more money in n bought a 4gb nano.the 2gb r just cr*p

The answer is, "It depends." Here's why. One minute of music in .mp3 format is approximately 1MB. That can vary, depending on the bit rate at which the .mp3 is recorded, but on average, that's where it's at. So, a 2GB Nano can hold approximately 2,000 minutes of music. If your average song length is 4 minutes, guess what? You're at 500 songs. If your average song is less than 4 minutes, you'll get more than 500 songs. If your average song is more than 4 minutes, you'll get less than 500 songs. So, there's no way to say exactly how many songs it can hold. It depends on how long the songs are and the bit rate at which they are recorded. However, 500 is a very reasonable estimate for what it will hold.

properly It relies upon on your determination- -in reality choose for Nano (4th Gen) as you may definately positioned movies on it out of your pc, in spite of the undeniable fact that it does no longer have the information superhighway (wifi) on it, yet once you want a compact music participant on your pocket. FYI new Nano(4th Gen) has 8GB for a similar value of $129-$147. -choose for Ipod touch in case you like diverse applications, purposes and 3-D video games and ofcourse WIFI (information superhighway). commerce-off: touch-large show screen ability greater advantageous length of the hand held, so definately a tradeoff on the size. value- greater advantageous value difference for same storage length. touch (+) - limitless form of purposes and video games & Wifi. Nano (+) - Compact sized.

It's a hard question to answer. Obviously, depends on the size of each song, which if the songs are coming from iTunes would be determined by the length of the song, since all songs are in the same format & same bitrate.

It says that you can fit 500 songs onto it. I am not quiet sure what you mean by "you are going to say 500". Even the website says 500. See for yourself.

If it's only song, then it's 500, but if it includes pictures than less than that.
