You can use a CD-R to back up files, but since you don't mention how large in bytes the files you want to back up are, then I can't give you a definite answer. CD-R's have a maximum capacity for 700 MB, so any file or files larger than that size would require another disc. If you want to download files to multiple CD-R's, then you could try that. Otherwise, as others have said, and if your computer has an USB drive, you could back up the files to a large capacity flash drive, or, if you really have a huge amount of files, buying an external hard drive would also do the trick. Good luck.

You can use CD-R discs and you can also use CD-RWs. If you use CD-Rs and need to add more info to the disk, it is impossible. CD-RWs can be used and then data can be added later. I hope that this answers your question.

well yes, but it depends on the amount of stuff you are backing up if its over 700 mb then you need a dvd for your backup it holds so much more. If you have a dvd burner it takes less disk to do your backup if you use dvds and if you get cd or dvd rw then you can reuse them over and over. take care Heather
