I don't think people are stupid about it, it's just that may people have kids out there and they just dont want there childeren to live that certain life

Because they are misinformed, ignorant of the truth, and, quite frankly, many people are afraid of what they don't understand.
A lot of people were raised from infancy to believe a certain way about things, including sexuality and race, and to be asked to believe a different way is just so frightening or threatening to their mindset that they are not sure how to react.
So--they act "stupid" by insulting, by making jokes, by avoiding, etc. etc. Homophobia is no laughing matter, but it is a direct result of that same anxiety that comes from asking someone to think "differently."
(And because it might be "catching" -- LOL!)

Who knows? As the species with the most potential for intelligence to ever walk the planet, people in general are so stuck on myth and superstition, fear of anything outside their circle of experience, or sexual anxiety I find it truly amazing that in all our ignorance we've been able to actually walk on the moon.

Not all people are. I am 100% straight and I think that homosexuals are good or bad people based on their personalities. There is no ignorance where I live.

people are ignorant, they see the few gay people on television or whatever and think that's what all gay people are like, since they don't really know any. Then they start spreading the word about the bible, etc........

well, I hope there are not Christians who are against bi/lesbians.
There are Christians who don't show love for others like they should , and may I apologise to you for their apathy/ coldness.
There are many who believe that God has set paramaters , boundaries, for relationships . He is knowable and loves each of us alot. Once we encounter Him, our heart is filled with His love , other relationships pale in comparison to knowing Him
