There is a book called "Now". It tells how to live in every second. But I tried and it is too hard. For example (extreme) imagine you are on death row. You have three hours then you will be gassed. If you live in the moment, does that mean for every second of life before they gas you that you could be content up to that moment?

Hi Dave,

Yes it is possible. It is referred to as total focus and is not at all easy for someone who does not have a disciplined and structured mind.

When one can learn to control the mind and achieve inner peace and order, there is no room for random negative thought patterns, and you can learn that when you control yourself, you control your destiny in life.

Excellent question,

I've always done my best to make that my life's goal.

Live in the now. Yesterday is gone. You can reminisce if you like; hopefully not entertain pointless regrets.

You can "plan" for tomorrow, realizing that your plans may come to naught. But then, life without some motivation is very close to death. A man has to have some sense of hope and anticipation to go on.

And, of course, there are those people who will occasionally distract you from your goal; break your focus. They are but pot holes in the road of life.

Move forward.

If you were to live for every second then wouldn't you be to busy counting the seconds to really live? Hell it took me a good 10 seconds out of my life to write this much. Hunny basically what its telling you is to live life to its fullest. Like its your last day because it very well maybe. And yes your right that example is a little to extreme.

It is completly possible, I have read that same book and alot of others on the same topic.

Try imagining life as a movie screen and you are sitting in a theatre watching it. If you try it that way it becomes eassier with practice and you stay in the now longer and longer if you keep at it long enough.

DIVINATION
In ancient Greece
People wanting to know
Their fate would visit the priests at Delphi
Supposedly skilled at divination
Nobody owns the future
So trying to stake
Your claim on
An as-yet-unforeseeable event
Is a waste of time and energy?
Wouldn't you be much better off?
Focusing on the here and now
Think about it
Now
Now

exactly....you clearly pointed out reason why you can't.. Fear....Being in a moment you must be completely fearless...no slight doubt should exist within you, for doubts , one of the faces of fear as is can't exist in a moment "now" ...Fear exist only in a past or can be transfered into the future... and you moving with it back and forth, missing a needle eye....not even noticing...

I have enough happy memories to last that far.

In the end it really depends on how strong your mind is though.

Take every thought captive, and if you do this, then you can.
