Extracurriculars help you, but it isn't required. They make you look like a well rounded student and if you have good grades it also shows that you have time management skills.

It is not bad, but it can certainly give you an advantage if you are trying to get into a more competitive school. My sister had VERY GOOD grades in HS, and applied to a fairly competitive college. She was first denied entrance to this college, but the track coach from her HS got a hold of the track coach from the college, and she was then accept to the college AND given a scholarship based on her running. Having an extracurricular activity makes you look more well rounded, and gives you more opportunity for financial aid, which could both help you during a selection committee review. GOOD LUCK!!

In is beneficial to have an extracurricular activity to demonstrate that you are capable of things other than good grades. Colleges usually like to see dedication to one or two activities rather than a bit of everything. Good activities are sports, clubs, or helping various organizations.

For any college, no. It's mainly grades and SAT.
For a competitive school, it becomes very important b/c a lot of kids will have top grades and scores.

Nope. Didn't prevent me from getting in and I didn't have much outside. I wouldn't worry about it. If your grades are good your should be fine.
