My brother (Marine Corps) is going in two weeks. Many of my friends have either been, are there now, or are going soon. And it's been a year to the day that the father of my children was killed there.

Please don't say "I'm sorry for your loss." That's not what I'm asking.

Do you know anyone in Iraq or Afganistan? How have you supported them?

No, but I pray every night for the ones who are there.

I have a couple of cousins and a brother in Iraq. My brothers son, in the marines, has served in Afghanistan and is set to be in Iraq by March. I write them all regular letters and send homemade goodies to them. I also pray daily for all our troops and the support people who are there to make their lives easier in a difficult situation.

My husband was there for 15 months.
My friends husband just got home from his second tour 2 months ago
Another friends husband is due to come home in Feb. (his second tour)
I am praying they don't call my husbands National Guard unit up anytime soon.
My support was of course sending packages to my husband every week. Keeping up with the news (ok..slave to the news really)
With the friends husbands that are deployed I have tried to keep up with the wives. I know how hard it is on the families back home. They need support too.
I'll keep your brother in my prayers.

My brother John is in Iraq. I send him cookies and email him regularly. He and his wife just sold their house. I am going to Tennessee on Thursday for a little over a week to help her get settled into their new apartment. While there, we are going to make a scrapbook of him, his wife and their two daughters, make cookies and send them out to him. He calls me regularly, for which I am very thankful. It's nice to hear his voice, and know that he is surviving.

I should also mention that the most important thing I do is I pray. I pray a lot for him for his safety, and for peace of mind.

I know a few people who are currently, or preparing to serve in Iraq. I don't think I am currently supporting them as much as I should be.....I send them food and gifts, and I write to them constantly.
