I mean seriously what kind of crap is this.....Are they just trying to put sexual predating in the express lane or what....not only do they have the opportunity to chat with underage teens and children....but hey theres come pics so you can choose your victim a little better...This website should be shut down, and I mean it's just a means for teenagers and young adults to show themselves in pretty much wearing nothing...and posting really annoying music....I have told my friends that I will not communicate through something so idiotic as this.....I'm just wondering if anyone feels the same way and if you do why the best answer gets 10 points

I feel the same way that you do. I have a 12 year old daughter that I am trying very hard to protect. I found that through the persuasion of her friends she made her own myspace website without my knowledge. Because of the age restrictions, she had lied about her age and said she was 15 years old and said that her reason for being there was to find friends, relationships and serious dating. And was contacted by older men with half naked pictures of themselves wanting to "make friends". In all reality, I believe that myspace is used for people to "whore" themselves by luring innocent children into their traps. I found out through one of my friends that was monitoring her daughters myspace that my daughter had her own. I joined myspace to monitor the replies that she was receiving. I deleted all of her contacts that I didn't know or felt were innappropriate for my child to view. I also made her aware of this and put restrictions on her page. Noting that it was being monitored by her mother. And made her site private so that if your are not one of her friends, you cannot communicate with her. As a parent, it is my obligation to protect my child against the ills of society. I now have her login id and password and check it every day. She should have the right to feel safe about communicating with her friends without being solicited by the sexual predators that obviously prey on young children for their own pleasure. One thing you need to know about sexual predators is that it is not necessarily the "sex" that they seek, but the control over another human being. Predators are very weak people, not capable of establishing a normal relationship with another adult. In order to make themselves feel better, they have to demean someone else as any abuser does. These people are very insecure people.

Myspace is a Social Networking Site. And it not just for teenagers and young adults. It is for everybody. However, just like in real society, there are abusers. You can put the blame where you may, but lets not hide from the truth. You can not control other People, places and things. You can only control yourself. If you see something wrong report it to Myspace. Voice your opinion with them. See what answer they give you and how long it takes them to respond. If they give you a lousy answer or take forever to respond. Then say that in your post. Believe or not Myspace does provide the FBI and Law Enforcement with infromation on sexual predators and stalkers.

No, that's a terrible thing to think! Myspace is way cool! It has nothing to do with sexual predators. Underage teens (children) typically set their profiles to private so that only their friends can view it. Strangers can't email them either. In fact I believe most of the myspace users are ages 15-25 which is hardly the age of children. There are also rules against putting up sexual pictures. Nobody is on display in the nude. Whether the music is annoying is a judgement call, but I think in general you are taking potshots at a great network! That is no way to treat your friends on myspace, telling them it is idiotic. Reevaluate your stance on myspace!

I used Myspace for like... a few months and I agree that it's a piece of crap. Not because I feel unsafe or anything like that, although that is a perfectly good reason considering 4 girls are now suing for being raped because of it, but because it's just plain ANNOYING! I try to log in, and it takes like 10 minutes. Then when I'm finally logged in "Myspace has experienced an unexpected error" and logs me out. Yes, you can make your account private (although I've heard cases were even private accounts were looked at, as well as seen sites titled "how to hack a private myspace account" online with my own eyes). yes, you can simply NOT add naked pictures. yes, you can only add people you know. however, none of that changes how slow and full of SPAM it is. Nor does it prevent stupid people from using it irresponsibly. I agree it should be shut down.

I'm on myspace and I am not an idiot, and I have nothing like that on my page. But there are idiots on myspace. If you give anything to people that let them manipulate the way they can portray themselves and others, of course people are going to take advantage of it. It’s like that everywhere sadly. I do agree about the pictures and the online predators. I only add people I know, and when people post pictures of themselves naked; it’s really for attention (pay them NO attention). I have gotten a lot of good things from myspace; I network with other college students in a similar field as mine. And I found friends I went to middle school and elementary school with that I thought I would never hear from again. It really depends upon the person. There are settings you can use to block unwanted users. And you can add only close friends. It can be convenient if you're willing to go out of your comfort zone a little by making yourself accessible.

And please listen to my argument. You want to ban myspace because of rape cases, you might as well do playgrounds, schools, workplace, streets. Crime is inevitable. People take advantage of everything! What was meant for good always turns evil in the hands of humans. Its like that with everything not only myspace... we simply cannot ban myspace without bannig everything else that brings crime. I truley sympathize for the victims. I just wish people would be more proactive when it comes to the internet safety.

All I hear from my friends and sister is how I need to get a myspace. I will never sell my soul to myspace thank-you very much. First off, in general it's just lame and also, I already get enough forty years old unattractive jerks hitting on me. If I had a daughter I would not let her go on myspace because they don't protect their younger users. They shouldn't be letting random 30 year old dudes contact 14 year old girls.

I like MySpace. So far, I haven't had any encounters with kids who cannot spell or with any perverts. I use the site to keep in touch with my friends because I move around a lot.

I do think it is for complete idiots. I had an account for about a month or two then I deleted it. Its full of freaks and perverts. I was having bulletins posted in my name with pictures of naked chicks that I never even looked at or posted. I think it is a good way to get in a lot of serious trouble.

i don't have my space and don't intend to get one ... its just too freaky .... and i know SO many teenagers who use it .. and i don't think they are giving it up in the near future. There must be another social website that is safer to use and could be introduced as an alternative .... or maybe myspace just needs to control their privacy settings and keep them really tight !!!

No, I don't. It's a good way to keep in touch with all of the people i know from different areas. I don't think that people who are too young or immature to handle it should be on it.
