Most high fashion models are extremely skinny for some to the point of death. I think that it would be great to see more plus size models on the runway. Dolce and Gabbana's main model is actually plus sized.. And look how popular they are.

I've seen some gorgeous photos of plus size models. The garment needs to fit the model correctly - which is often the most difficult part for a plus size model. They have so many great curves and angles that you want to play up on them. There is a great plus size calendar out for 2007 that has photos of plus size models that is fantastic. There is also an ezine called Bombshell and several websites such as AlwaysForMe.com that feature plus size models.

The reason fashion models (runway/editorial) are thin is to fit into the sample sized clothing items that designers make. These items are designed to fit a size 6 and under, so no one above that size can fit into them. If a designer designs plus sized clothing, plus sized models would be needed. Plus size models also have plenty of opportunities in commercial modeling. So generally, yes, fashion models need to be skinny, but in many cases plus sized models are needed and I've seen a fair share of attractive plus sized models.

Plus size models are beautiful and look healthier (both mind and body) than normal models.

People come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and no one is ugly. plus size models and skinny models and everything in between is beautiful.

they don't have to be skinny, but i think skinny (but healthy looking) models make the clothes look better and more attractive so you want to buy it. plus size models are cool, but not for the high end fashion industry, since those designers make clothes that are better suited for skinny tall people.
