I think i agree, because of the avalanche of meds they can face. There are so many drugs out there, and everybody needs something very individualized. If you realize you don't feel well and ask for help, then good luck. Rely on yourself and your friends. Some folks can be highly functional, and some need patience. All are good people, and can be capable of a productive life!!

I don't agree. Just because someone has a disease and is at a disadvantage does not mean they are a hero. I think a hero betters society or the life of another in some way through selfless acts.

Yeah I know 2 people with it--one who has like ten million adults living in her house that she feeds and babysitts they're millions of kids and the other got her children taken away because she forgot who they were and drugged them. It's sad I really need to pray for them all.
People who don't know what bipolar is: it's when on Monday you don't get out of bed until like 5:00 and are sleepy and then on Tuesday you go to Walmart and spend $350 on eggs and cheetos. It might sound funny, but its sad. It's a mental disease and medicine helps, but............
anyway lets smile because its a great day
they arent neccessarily "heroes" unless they faithfully take meds even if they dont want to and keep they're temper like the one with millions of strangers brought in by her youngest daughter...............so no not intirely I agree I mean she odesn't complain, she says "no" when she has to and she never got of schedule with meds so SHE is the hero

Well, one could argue that. But one could also argue that everyone has odds to face, so everyone would be a hero.
I don't define a hero that loosely, so no. I don't agree.
But if a person with bipolar disorder campaigned for more funds to be given to psychiatric research, that would be different.

Holy crap. I can't believe the number of stupid and ignorant answers on here. I'm bipolar and as far as I know not a complete psycho. I wouldn't say I was a hero of any sort, but Christ! There's a whole list of famous bipolars on Wikipedia!
Hey wise guys, think about what you say about bipolars, we have feelings too! To me you just might be the evil ones.

NO! I was "raised" by two extremely bipolar people. Both were bad at taking their meds, were drunks and druggies. I grew up always being offered the world, new clothes, toys, cars, even going to look at them... then not only would I not get them, what I already had was sold to cover their debts. Hopes raised, hopes crushed, hopes raised, hopes crushed.... Household of debt, mess, absent parents. Not heroes.

Don't overdo it. There are billions of people facing odds like hunger, disease, lack of education, etc. Being able to live with bipolar disorder is to be commended. From there to hero is kind of a long jump.

bipolar people are disgustingly mean, uncaring, impossible to live with, and downright evil. Meds or no meds--they should all be institutionalized Don't overdo it. There are billions of people facing odds like hunger, disease, lack of education, etc. Being able to live with bipolar disorder is to be commended. From there to hero is kind of a long jump.

um no
u crazy?
-how are they hero's? what about people with eating disorders, or dislexia, or color blind...? What about people w/ addictive perosonalities. Lot's of poeple have struggles that they need to live with and overcome. Personal hero's ok, but modern day hero's? No. According to today, we all have problems, we're all depressed, and we all need prescriptions to make us feel better about ourselves.
We all need healtheir life styles, and banish hard drugs. And people w/ drug addictions should not procreate and continue the vicious cycle.
