I just answered this question for someone; did you ask it twice?? Coronary artery disease is arteriosclerosis, the formation of plaque in the coronary arteries, the arteries which supply blood to the heart muscle. Over time as the plaque increases, the arteries can become occluded (blocked) or clots can form resulting in myocardial infarction (death of the heart muscle) which is commonly referred to as a "heart attack". The condition can be treated with diet changes, statin drugs such a Lipitor, angioplasty and stents (the insertion of tiny devices which expand the arteries), or coronary bypass surgery to create new vessels to resupply the heart.

The coronary arteries are the most important arteries for the heart itself they pump the blood directly into the hearts own muscles so it can deliver the blood from the lungs to the rest of the body.

If they get blocked the heart can't pump.
