I would really not suggest becoming a nurse,at all. My Mum is a nurse and,she went to a small local college for two years, that was 4 years ago,and we still have plenty of debts to pay off. She works hard, and doesn't get good pay. Her employers have all been dishonest,promising,longer/shorter hours, good pay, benefits and no lifting,so far at her current job of 1 and a half years, none of theese have come true, (she is honwst and works hard, this has happened to many of her friends too.). I get to see
her 4-5 hours a day and I miss her. She says it is a field gone bad. And that if you want to give good honest, qaulity time to you
patient, most every employer wont want that, they want you to be
quick,in,out, thats it. I'm not saying you shouldn't become a nurse, you should do what makes you happy. But so far my family, she and,I,haven't been happy with this field. Good luck! I'm sure you'll make a great choice! Ps. My Mom and my siblings and I often gets sick, from the germs she gets at her work. She has had people throw up in her face. (It isn't a clean field!)

Dental hygienists don't have great pay either.
I'd rather be a nurse. There's such a national shortage that it's easy to get overtime, let alone a job.
It is a very stressful job though. Dental hygienists have an easier time at work, but considering the money, I'd rather be a nurse.
