That he wrote about the genocide, yes, that's probably why those gunmen shot him. Turkey's official position denies the historical record. At the same time, Turkey wants to join the European Union and to appear to have a fair judicial system. So maybe the truth about his murder will come out during the gunmen's trial.

I agree with Justitia. Well, some considered Ogun Samast as a national hero in the police headquarters for killing Hrant Dink who was a writer. Hrant dink was killed because he would not stop talking about the Armenian Genocide. He wanted Turkey to come to terms with its dark past. He was prosecuted by nationalists on article 301 "insulting Turkishness", then he was assassinated in front of his office. There is a nationalist terrorist organization that operates in Turkey by top figures. In the last year only 3 Christians were killed actually tortured then slaughtered, Italian priest was killed, Hrant Dink was killed, a judge was killed. But keep in mind that there was more than 100,000 people in the streets protesting Hrant Dink's murder, during his funeral. So that means there are also good people who are living in a country with no choice, because of the powerful nationalist ties in the Parliament, Court, and Army.

He was killed by a fundementalist fanatic. I am really sorry for Hrant Dink. I am aTurkish Armenian who do not agree with Hrant that Turks genocided us. Our ancestors posed a threat against Ottomans. There were atrocities and great losses on both sides. But we never take what happened to be a genocide. Turkey is a secular country, though and has nothing to do with Islam. You can come and see by your eyes. Turks are shamanist by origin and they dont have the same religion Arabs have. One third of them are either deists or atheists... Islam is irrelevant in Turkey. Religious fanatics constitute less than 5 %...

He not only spoke about the genocide falsified by the western countries in order to conceal their aims involving the occuppation of Anatolia at the time, but also he spoke about the French and Russian support for Armenians to rebel against the Ottoman Empire;accordingly, Allied Forces would occupy the Turkish land easily.
The truth about the Armenian genocide is that the Ottoman Empire forced the Armenian people to move to Syria, which used to be a part of Ottoman land then, because they were collaborating with Russian and French armies fighting Ottomans.
