After pushing out the baby, the placenta is hardly noticeable. You may have some stomach contractions, but nowhere near the labor pains of the baby. Plus you will barely pay attention to the placenta being delivered - you will be more interested in knowing your baby's APGAR score and birth vitals, and of course, holding your baby for the very first time :)

No not at all. It is called the 3rd stage of labor because you actually "give birth" to the placenta. You are in such Ecstasy and so naturally numb (unless you're artificially numb) after you give birth to your baby. The placenta smoothly comes out on it's own under normal circumstances and you'll hardly notice it.

Giving birth hurts, but when the placenta comes out it does not hurt, it just slides out after the baby.

oh no, not hardly at all the placenta is just the membrane that the baby was in. i have had two kids i had an epidural each time and my placentas never hurt but you may have the urge to push but honey after that baby comes out pushing out some soft tissue is nothing!

Contractions feel like really painful cramps, and for me it felt like trying to have the worlds biggest poo (tmi, but you did ask!). Once you have the baby and are holding it, they give you a hormone injection, its one more easy contraction and the placenta comes slithering out. I hardly noticed it, and it didn't hurt. Its the easist bit about the whole process!

The contractions are painful, but the placenta itself doesn't hurt. Sometimes they press on your abdomen to help expell it, and that hurts. It's all bearable, though. The placenta is destroyed like other medical waste products (removed organs, etc.)

No it doesnt hurt at all. You pay attention to the baby and dont even realize or remember the placenta lol....the dr usually examines it and then they dispose of it

When my mom had my sister, I was in the room with her and she didn't even feel the placenta coming out. She was holding and watching my sister. The doctor will look at it and make sure it is all there and then he will look for blockages and all of that and then they will get rid of it.

No..if u have an epidural during delivery u will probably feel a tugging/pulling sensation feeling but no pain...without the epidural it is a little uncomfortable but it doesnt hurt....sometimes u have to literally give birth to it as in pushing to help it come out,,but usually the doctors can tug on it themselves...
