My case won at the District Justice's office, and I'm looking into collection agencies to collect the $1700.00 I am owed. Looking online, I can't tell which are legitimate or may be a scam. I'm also looking, obviously, to get the most amount of money back.
Has anyone been in this situation? I need the name of a decent agency.

Thanks.

You did not state what city/state you are living in. I use to work for a property management company and trying to collect the judgment is a hard job.

Your best bet is to make sure that the judgment is showing on the person's credit record. Sometimes there is a loop in the system and it never shows up. Contact the major credit companies and send them a copy of the judgment. When the person goes to buy something or tries to rent another place they will be blocked.

We had a tenant who skipped out of town and never paid one penny of the judgment. Three years later she went to buy a house and she had to pay us before they would OK her loan.
