Other than a GED, you would have to get a CPR certification from the American Heart Association (1 day class), then get an EMT- Basic certification from your state's EMS Office and/or from the National Registry for EMT's (usually about a 2 month course). After that, you can apply for Paramedic(EMT-P) school, assuming the school doesn't require you to have a certain amount of experience as an EMT-B (i.e. two years experience doing EMS). Paramedic school is 1 to 2 years depending where you are located, and if you are getting certified or licensed.
My courses are in New York City and it's 1 year to get certified there. Good luck, and I hope this helped.

Either a GED or a high school diploma will work for most paramedic schools. Just remember that paramedic school is very intensive, and math and English skills are very important. If you are weak in math, you might consider taking some basic math courses (including basic algebra, or at least pre-algebra) before you attempt paramedic school. It might not hurt to brush up on basic sciences, and English if you feel you are weak in those areas, too.

I hope not.
Whoever gave me a thumbs down sucks. Thumbs down to YOU!
I meant "I hope not" in terms of I wouldn't want my paramedic to not have further training beyond a GED.
