I cannot believe you actually asked this tonight because I am about to break off a friendship.
Well, it's more than friendship.
I am about to break up my relationship, my "marriage".

I have been thinking about this a lot and I just realized that it wasn't what I wanted. I have been unhappy for a long time, too long. And it's time to move on.

How I plan on breaking off this 'friendship' is with complete and total honesty. If I leave anything out, I fear I'll have too many regrets. I don't want to regret words that went unspoken.

I will explain exactly why I've come tot his decision and how I feel about it.

I'm scared but that's the point.
These things are never supposed to be easy because it's not just you and your emotions that are on the line.
But you just have to stand up and make a decision and do what's right for you.
You are the best judge of yourself and what's right.

However, if you're asking what it takes for me to want to break off a friendship.

It's unhappiness, discontent with them and our friendship, lack of communication, lack of truth, lack of kinship, lack of comfort.
When the comfort's gone and it's an effort just to be friendly, I know it's done.

Oh Geez...... that's a hard one. Well..... it is for me at least. I really hate... I mean.... really hate losing people. I can't remember ever saying to someone, "I can no longer be your friend." Oh sure...... sometimes I have to step back a little and take a breather, but the one thing I can never do, is ever let go completely.

I suppose in my head, if we've become friends, there was a real true strong reason we did. Friendship.... real friendship is not a "fly by night" thing. When you are lucky enough to find it, you grab hold. There will be ups and down for sure..... but why ever need to let go? Why ever break it off?

Ok..... let's suppose that one or the other does something to hurt the other. To betray them. I can't help but believe that that is an EFFECT of something else that two dear friends could sort out and talk about with logic and reasoning vs. just automatically saying....... the friendship is over.

Ok ..... so maybe I wear rose colored glasses. Maybe this is what is wrong with me in this world...... I wanna trust everyone. But unless someone causes me or someone I love bodily harm... (which really wouldn't happen most likely because why would I enter into a deep friendship with someone capable of such an act??)...... I will never break off a friendship. (Even if they leave me..........)
