Darn it I should had payed more attention inmy history class. I know he sailed for spain but I couldn't tell you which king or queen of the time. I can't remember when but I can tell you why. Ok, maybe not the why of the text books but the logical why. Grred and lust for gold. Don't let them fool you. All conquistadors where ruthless people. They did not have a hard time killing anyubody especially the lesser natives. One thing though is that they had to be this way. They had to be ruthless becuase they live in a ruthless time and they where doing very dangerous work. Notice their title. Conquistador which menas the conquerors. You don't conquer land by being nice sitting by a bong fire and singing cumball.

I think he sailed to Florida to find the fountain of youth.

He sailed for Spain and discovered Florida in 1513. He also came over with Christopher Columbus on his second trip to the "new world"
