Because they have respect for the presidency, & George Bush is the holder of that office.
I'm a Democrat, I voted for President Bush in 04. I have clapped for him tonight, but I suppose in your world my service in the Navy for 6 years, vote for Mr Bush in 04 are cancelled out by being a Democrat.
I guess when I show RESPECT for the speaker of the house by clapping you will see fit to insult my mother.
You have no idea whatsoever who supports the President or doesn't based upon any label you apply.
Please help the President NOW by shutting your foolish mouth making other proud Americans who support him look like misinformed hate mongers like you.
Sorry brother, love ya as a fellow American but just STOP IT

It does not truthfully count. besides, people constantly clap while any president supplies the State of the Union speech. it extremely is a convention, no longer expression of one or yet another variety of political critiques.

Because they are ALL on the same side. We are the only ones who by this whole divided nation crap. They like us divided so they can make out like bandits and make money for themselves, their donors and big corporations.
The first one in Bushes face and shaking his hand was Denis Kucinich, probably the most far left liberal in congress. They're all in on it. The just want you to think they hate each other..

If they didn't you'd be whining about that instead.. They do it out of respect, also it's part of politics.. They know you'd be crying about them not clapping and it might hurt them politically...

They are clapping when Bush says things that they agree with. Democrats are willing to reach across the aisle and do what is best for America.
