I went into the Air Force and was qualified to get into Financial Management. I took that experience and learned skills to do financial management work in the Federal Government. Without that Air Force experience I never would have qualified for this job.
There are many, many jobs that you can do in the military that are directly tranferable to regular, non-military jobs. I like the Air Force best so that is the one I entered.

I work with developmentally challenged adults. I love it because it is so rewarding. These people have been mistreated by society and all they want is to be accepted. I hate the pay, but I'd rather do something I enjoy than make a lot of money and not be happy.

I'm a business systems analyst for a major brokerage firm
what made me choose it: just kind of fell into it. I started out as a secretary for an IT group
love most: work from home (no commute, set my own hours, etc)
hate: work from home (there's no defined lined between work from home so everything gets squeezed together. I end up working more hours than others on my team)

i am a teacher. i teach adults.
i love helping people learn.
i love learningnew things myself.
i love the money i make.
i don't like the inflexible working hours.
i feel inadequate when i don't know everything i should know to teach the subject...haven't prepared enough in other words.
