I have a co-worker that is very rasist and is really off the wall on some subjects. I have told this person that it bothers me when she is disrespectful to other races. I work in a cultural diverse environment but she continues to degrade other races. If I tell on this person can he/she get in trouble by HR department? If so how can I make her stop?

Since you work in a culturally diverse environment I would assume she does also and people of another race must hear what she's saying. If 3 or more people hear her comments and get together to complain to HR they can put a stop to it. It might not hold much power if you are the only one complaining. Try getting some of your co-workers to go to the HR dept. with you.
She definitely could be fired and she might not be aware that it bothers anyone other than you. Since you've told maybe she's just trying to get on your nerves. I'm sure it's against company policy for her make these comments in the work place. Good Luck.

You've done the right thing by telling her how it makes you feel. I'd say just continue doing your job as best as you can. What goes around, comes around. If you just let her be, eventually she's screw herself over. Don't buy into her crap.

If it's really bad, refuse to acknowledge her existence. It's as simple as that. If it ends up getting really bad at work, and your boss asks what's going on, you just say that you won't listen to people who spew that crap.

Will she get in trouble by your HR dept.? Who knows? It depends on your company, it depends on lots of things.

Yes I would think this person would get in trouble if you told. You could try telling anonymously in a note, but they may not take it seriously. Tell this person to stop the ugliness now or you will have no choice but to report them.

What that person is doing is illegal. If HR doesn't do anything after you report it, then they are at risk for a lawsuit. Be sure to document what that person says to you, dates times, and that you told her it makes you uncomfortable. Also document what you say to your supervisor

my daughter is in HR training.
She said to tell HR, but if you do not want her to get fired, and she would get one chance to not do it again, So tell her you will give her one more chance then you will turn it over to HR... this is a company and you are not acting prudent, you are disrespecting others and that is not acceptable.

If you told on her she would probably loose her job. Why should it bother you if she hates other people. People are who they are.
