I would suggest Orlando , I live in Fort Lauderdale. The cost of living is high and salaries are not up to the level ,we do not get increase of salary to compasate the cost of living.
The house market in spite of the decline is still prohibited in South Florida. Is a nice weather all year round .

Do yourself a favor and don't move to either. Miami/Ft. Lauderdale is too expensive and overcrowded and companies here don't pay what they do in other expensive cities. I've been to Orlando and it's too sprawled out and stagnant (no beach breeze). Too congested also due to theme park traffic. I personally enjoyed living in Tampa/St. Petersburg the best and I can't wait to leave this mess even though I was raised here in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. Plenty of New Yorkers here for you to feel right at home, though.

I've lived in Ft. Lauderdale my whole life and it just seems like Florida is OVERPRiCED. Don't get me wrong I love it but sometimes its just not worth it. If I had to choose, I'd probably pick Miami. I love the tropics. But beware, if you move to Miami YOU MUST KNOW SPANiSH or you won't survive.
